making new friends makes everything better.

here we are five years later.

here i am feeling like crying,
because we came back, at least halfway.
because there's two hurricanes going on now and thinking about them hurts my heart.
because someone already drowned from hurricane danielle,
drowned in a riptide,
and i shouldn't have told my mom,
that's how her brother died.

i know this is a memorial and supposed to be a celebration too,
of how much progress we've made,

but mostly i'm just sad.
